Hommage Art

I loved working with Hommage Art to create a series of step by step illustrations to explain the lithographic process.

Hommage Art sells affordable art-exhibition posters and lithographs which have been created by ‘the giants of the 20th century Mordern Art world’ such as Picasso, Matisse and Miró. Hommage carefully research and select the best Modernist posters and lithographs.

The brief was to create six line drawings to help explain the process of creating a lithographic print;

1. The artist paints their original masterpiece

2. The printmaker copies the masterpiece image on to a lithographic stone

3. The stone is treated with chemicals and water, and then pressed on to paper

4. A new lithographic stone is required for each different colour

5. Each stone is pressed and printed to the same paper

6. The lithographic poster is complete

I loved creating these step by step illustrations. I felt it needed to be really simple with clean lines and elegant edges. Such a fun project to work on!
